• This mask was created when "international commerce" was just starting to become a global phenomena; we weren't yet aware that overseas production and out-sourcing meant unemployment at home. This mask depicts the rise of international corporate power, which now have the power and financial influence of countries; they a major influence on all our lives. Never before in history have private companies and unelected individuals held so much power.
  
  Traditionally Northwest Coast Native masks have been used to portray tribal history. I take this tradition a step further, to depict contemporary situations that affect our society.
